Economic Empowerment of women and their contribution to economic and social development (CSW 69 Side Event).


CSW69 Side Event organized by the Kingdom of Morocco, in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

This event aims to highlight Morocco's experience in this field, as well as learn from the experiences of friendly and brotherly countries to enhance women's economic empowerment, recognize their role as key contributors to economic and social development, and explore ways to address the challenges at hand.

Key Themes of the Side Event:"Valuing Women's Work" through the role of women in the informal economy and their contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Regulatory frameworks in national legislation, policies, and statistical systems regarding women's contribution to economic and social development.
International experiences in the field of women's economic inclusion and empowerment.
Mechanisms for accounting for "unpaid/hidden" work within the economic system.
The care economy as a lever for women's economic empowerment.

Gender equality is a must for a world of zero hunger , where all women, men, girls and boys can exercise their human rights, including the right to adequate food . According to WFP , 45 million people would have enough to eat by closing the gender gap on farm productivity .
