Sexual and gender based cyberviolence: Challenges and solutions to counter backlash and build a world free from violence.

This side event focuses on sexual and gender-based cyberviolence, particularly on how new technologies amplify sexual violence and exploitation occurring in the physical world.This phenomenon encompasses a wide range of realities and different forms of violence, predominantly affecting women and girls.

This side event provides an opportunity to understand the challenges posed by the digitalization of exploitation and cyberviolence and to lay the groundwork for effective collective and feminist action to foster a digital environment that respects the fundamental rights of women and girls. It will analyze new forms of online sexual exploitation (such as online pimping, video and live-streamed pornography) and gender-based and sexual violence facilitated by new technologies—also known as cyberviolence—including non-consensual sharing of intimate images, slut-shaming, "sextortion", deepfake porn, cyberflashing, and more.
