Gender equality is not just about women fighting for Women's rights: men and boys also need to take an active role as allies and advocates in pushing for real change, advocating side by side with the feminist movement. This is the core message of the HeForShe campaign from UN Women, which is calling for 2025 to be the year that men and boys show up for gender equality, by embracing positive masculinity, rooted in respect, empathy, and equality, rejecting harmful stereotypes and supporting women and girls in exercising their rights.

By highlighting the role women play in feeding families , communities and the world, the World Food Programme (WFP) calls for more women and girls' empowerment . Gender equality is a must for a world of zero hunger , where all women, men, girls and boys can exercise their human rights, including the right to adequate food . According to WFP , 45 million people would have enough to eat by closing the gender gap on farm productivity .
