The Seventieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) will take place from 9 to 19 March 2026 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

A 25-minute opening dialogue involving Ministers from 5 Member States representing the five UN regional groups. Ministers will share experiences, lessons learned, latest evidence and successful strategies to address violence against women and girls, including prevention and response.
The morning and afternoon opening dialogues will help frame the discussion and set the stage for an interactive ministerial dialogue where Member States will have the opportunity to share persistent challenges, best practices, lessons learned, and suggestions for the way forward around the identified priority concerns on ending violence against women and girls.
Priority theme: Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers
Review theme: Women's full and effective participation and decision making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls (agreed conclusions of the sixty-fifth session)
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), it was established by Council resolution 11(II) of 21 June 1946.
The CSW is instrumental in promoting women's rights, documenting the reality of women's lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women.View less
