Advancing Access to justice for women Farmers.

 

 The Rome-based Agencies will host an event for International Women's Day 2026, contributing to the global observance of the International Year of the Woman Farmer. Women farmers from diverse regions and sectors will share their experiences and showcase innovative practices. During the event, FAO, in collaboration with Coldiretti and the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato, will unveil a commemorative coin for the International Year.

By highlighting the role women play in feeding families , communities and the world, the World Food Programme (WFP) calls for more women and girls' empowerment . Gender equality is a must for a world of zero hunger , where all women, men, girls and boys can exercise their human rights, including the right to adequate food . According to WFP , 45 million people would have enough to eat by closing the gender gap on farm productivity .
