Empowering Women in the Nuclear Field & the Strengthening the Role of Men as Allies in Gender Equality (CSW70 Side Event).



Side event organised by the Permanent Mission of Malta in the margins of CSW70 on empowering women in the nuclear field and strengthening men as allies in gender equality.


The side event will examine ways to empower women in the nuclear field and to strengthen the role of male allies in gender equality. It will highlight women's leadership across nuclear science energy and disarmament and underscore how inclusive, gender-responsive approaches contribute to peace, security and effective governance.

Measuring Women's Empowerment in Large Scale Surveys (CSW69 Side Event).

CSW 69 Side Event organized by FAO, IFPRI, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In the past fifteen years considerable progress has been made in measuring women's empowerment . The Women's Empowerment in Agriculture Index (WEAI) , developed by IFPRI in 2010, and its adaptations have been used by 271 organizations in 63 countries. Building on the WEAI, IFPRI, Emory University and Oxford University worked in partnership with the World Bank on the development of a new metric for measuring women's empowerment: the Women's Empowerment Metric for National Statistical Systems (WEMNS) . Under the umbrella of the 50x2030 Initiative to Close the Agricultural Data Gap , FAO contributes to the uptake of the metric integrating WEMNS in agricultural surveys of three partner countries: Sierra Leone, Liberia and Tanzania.
