This CSW70 side event organized by the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Morocco to the UN will bring together policymakers, UN System, and representatives from across the African continent to discuss and showcase the pivotal role of women in driving sustainable food systems and ensuring food security in Africa.

By highlighting the role women play in feeding families , communities and the world, the World Food Programme (WFP) calls for more women and girls' empowerment . Gender equality is a must for a world of zero hunger , where all women, men, girls and boys can exercise their human rights, including the right to adequate food . According to WFP , 45 million people would have enough to eat by closing the gender gap on farm productivity .
